What happens when your relationship comes to an end? We can help you to understand your rights, entitlements and obligations regarding property and division assets.

We can also provide you with advice regarding the dissolution of your marriage and what you need to know.

March 2014 saw some important family justice reforms that will see more options for families to reach agreement outside the courts when making decisions about caring for children during separation or during other disputes. We can help you understand these new changes and how they affect you if you're already going through the Family Courts system.

It is important to make arrangements for your children if you separate. If you are unsure of your rights and obligations as guardian of your children, Robinson Law can help.

These arrangements can be made by agreement, or if you are unable to reach agreement, with the assistance of the Family Court which can make Parenting Orders and other orders about the care and welfare of your children. We offer advice, guidance and representation through this process.

We can advise you about making arrangements for the guardianship and day-to-day care of children that are not your natural born children, but are in your care.

Robinson Law can also act as agents for out of town lawyers, for instance, we can meet with children or attend to local court appearances on their behalf.

If your child has been identified as being at risk and/or Child, Youth & Family Service (CYFS) are concerned for their safety or welfare, we can advise you about your rights and explore the options available to you.

If you are considering adopting a child, Robinson Law can provide advice on the legal process and implications, and assist in the legal process that is involved.

In you are the subject of domestic violence or abuse, Robinson Law can advise you about your legal options to keep you and your children safe; such as obtaining urgent Protection Orders (also including related orders such as the right to occupy the home), and Parenting Orders.

We can also provide advice and defence of applications made against you under the Domestic Violence laws.

If you are not living with the other parent and wish to leave the area with your children, or you’re facing the possibility of your former partner leaving town with your children – you need to know your rights and obligations. Robinson Law can help.

Sometimes life can throw a curveball – you deserve peace of mind in knowing that your property and financial affairs will be taken care of in the event that you’re unable to do so. Robinson Law can assist you in putting in place Powers of Attorney – someone you would like to act on your behalf in the future, if required.

If a loved one is no longer mentally capable of managing their property and financial affairs, and/or personal decisions, Robinson Law can help you with your application to the Family Court for the power to manage affairs on their behalf.

Ensure your assets are protected. Robinson Law can assist you in drawing up Relationship Property and Prenuptial-type (Contracting Out) Agreements when entering new relationships and discuss the use of a Trust/s to ensure everything you deem important is protected in the case of a new relationship breaking down.

This is a good time to prepare or review your will and we can assist you with this also.

We can provide advice and help with submitting applications to the Family Court to challenge what you believe to be inadequate provisions in a deceased’s will.
